Introduction
The Virtual Workspace Service provides an open source infrastructure for
the deployment and management of virtual machines. Among other things, the
workspace service will allow you to do the following:
-
Create compute clouds (make your own EC2 style service). For
examples of existing clouds configured with the workspace service,
see the science clouds page.
-
Flexibly combine VM deployment with job deployment on a site
configured to manage jobs using a batch scheduler (using the
workspace "pilot" program).
-
Deploy one-click, auto-configuring virtual clusters
(see the cloud clusters page).
These are portable, require no onboard secrets to be stored, and
auto-configure themselves into new network and security contexts.
-
Interface to Amazon EC2 resources (see
here)
